Unread message emails, real delivery ticks, and unread chats in the sidebar
Chat is only useful if messages get seen. This update makes sure a message you miss doesn't stay missed, shows senders whether their message has actually arrived, and puts your unread conversations one click away from anywhere in Asire.
An email when a message goes unread
If someone messages you, directly or in a group, and you haven't opened it within 15 minutes, Asire sends you an email. It tells you who the message is from, or which group it's in, and how many messages are waiting, with a button that opens the conversation directly.
- Your messages stay private. The email never contains message text. It only says who wrote and links back to the chat, so nothing you discuss ends up in an inbox.
- One email, not a stream. You get a single reminder per conversation. You won't get another for it until you've read it and new messages go unread again.
- Only when you're really away. A chat left open in a background tab, or on a locked phone, no longer counts as read, so the reminder still reaches you.
- Not for the General channel. It reaches the whole workspace, so it doesn't send reminders.
Ticks that mean something
Message ticks on web and mobile now show where your message actually is:
- One tick: your message has been sent and saved.
- Two ticks: it has reached the other person's device. In a group, it has reached everyone's.
Previously the double tick appeared as soon as a message was saved, whether or not anyone had received it. Now it updates live, the moment the other device picks the message up.
Unread chats in the sidebar
The Chat item in the sidebar now expands to show your four most recent unread conversations, each with its unread count. Click one to jump straight into it from any page, or use the arrow next to Chat to collapse the list.
Also fixed: the workspace switcher now closes when you click anywhere outside it or press Escape.
