Crisp 1080p Full HD video calls, smart network adaptation, and mobile HD
When collaborating remotely, fuzzy video and dropped frames slow conversations down. Today's update brings 1080p Full HD video calling, smart bandwidth adaptation that maintains pixel sharpness under network load, and unified HD audio-video across web and mobile.
1080p Full HD WebRTC Video & VP9 Encoding
One-on-one video calls and group meetings now capture and stream in Full HD 1080p at 30 fps by default, with automatic multi-tier fallbacks for older webcams.
- Next-Gen Codec Priority: WebRTC transceivers now prioritize modern VP9 and AV1 compression ahead of legacy VP8, delivering 30–50% sharper visuals at equivalent bandwidth.
- Maintain Resolution Preference: When network bandwidth dips slightly, Asire gracefully balances framerate while preserving crisp facial and screen resolution, avoiding muddy pixelation.
- Expanded Bandwidth Ceiling: Raised the video transmission ceiling to 3.5 Mbps on desktop web and 1.8 Mbps on mobile for high-fidelity peer-to-peer and SFU streaming.
Live Connection Quality & Adaptive Bitrate
Never guess why a call stuttered. The video overlay now continuously inspects connection health directly via WebRTC statistics and adapts in real time.
- Real-Time Status Badges: Floating indicators show live connection health (HD 1080p, HD Auto, or Weak Connection) with round-trip latency and packet loss tracking.
- Debounced Quality Recovery: Dynamic bitrate tuning steps down seamlessly during packet loss bursts and requires sustained stability before stepping back up to prevent quality flapping.
- LiveKit SFU Crisp Preset: Group meetings leverage viewport-aware adaptive streaming and dynacast to preserve bandwidth while keeping active speakers crystal-clear.
Mobile HD & Modal Polish
We also brought optimized 720p HD capture and VP9 simulcast to the mobile app, alongside asynchronous loading states for destructive actions and quick bug and suggestion reporting in our polished feedback modal.
